A lifeguard with blonde hair in a bun stands by a swimming pool, arms crossed, wearing a white shirt with LIFEGUARD written in red. The scene captures the professionalism taught in the mobile pool lifeguard course Peregian Springs Sunshine Coast.

HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

During a mobile pool lifeguard course in Peregian Springs, Sunshine Coast, two people provide first aid to an unconscious man—one giving chest compressions, the other holding an oxygen mask. An orange rescue board lies close by.
A smiling man in glasses and a blue shirt sits at a table outdoors in Peregian Springs, working on a laptop and open notebook—perhaps studying for an advanced water rescue course on the Sunshine Coast. Trees and a wooden fence are visible in the background.

This course is offered as a face-to-face course. Pre-course learning is required.

Face to face minimum duration is 1 day.

Students must hold a current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid as this is a pre-requisite to the SISCAQU022 – Provide oxygen resuscitation and therapy in an aquatic environment. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.

Students must have previously completed the full Pool Lifeguard course in order to attend the refresher course.

Face to face training consists of theory presentations and range of practical learning activities and scenarios.

It is recommended by the industry to renew this course every 12 months.

Participants in NSW are required to complete an on-the-job licencing requirement with their employer.

Further information including fees, payments, support, complaints and appeals can be found in the Student Handbook on the Student Help Centre page.
